    For the Do-It-Yourself Person

Here are the Do's and Don'ts, found out the hardway.

    1. Do not boil to remove flesh and meat
    • this weakens the skull where the plates have joined together and will become brittle.

    2. If you do boil, make sure not to use wife's good pots. This stinks really bad.
    3. Do take your time in removing the flesh and meat from around the base of the antler.
    4. Do not use straight bleach to whiten skull

    • mix with water I like 60-40 mixture where the 60 is water.

    5. Avoid contact with antlers as this will change the coloring.
    6. You can by mounting kit or you can make your own.

    • I choose to make my own.

    7. IF you go with kit, the kit is very easy to use once antlers are ready.
    8. The antlers them self this look is entirely up to you. You can leave them alone or apply a spray urethane or varnish to give a bit of shine.
    9. If you decided to rap the skull with felt.

    • be patient
    • take your time with sewing and stitching
    • do not get frustrated
    • go back later till you are happy and pleased.

    10. Mount to board and display.
    11. See my album of my bucks!.

    Hope u enjoy.

Those are some great tips? I especially like the one about your wifes pots.

Just so everyone knows the type of mount you are referring to.
