Today I would like to talk a little about a new rifle I purchased. I sited it in this morning and has left a lasting impression with me. I am talking about the Weatherby Vanguard in 30-06.

Some of the standard features with this rifle are

    • 1) a 24 in. hammered-forged barrel, this maximizes velocity
    • 2) has a monte cario stock
    • 3) you can purchase it in wood or synthetic
    • 4) it has low -density recoil pad
    • 5) one piece machined receiver
    • 6) a fully hand tuned trigger system
    • 7) features light weight aluminum alloy housing.

    This rifle is chambered in;
    • 223 rem.,
    • 22-250 rem.,
    • 243 win.,
    • 270 win.,
    • 30.06 sprg.,
    • 257 wby mag.,
    • 7mm rem. mag.,
    • 300 win mag.,
    • 300 wby mag.,
    • 338 win mag.,
    • and 300 wsm.

They offer this rifle in a package combo with a scope. They say it will shoot 1 1/2 in. or better 3-shot groups at a 100 yds. using factory amunition. I shot it this morning with Winchester X Supreme 30.06 sprg. 180grain power-point, and at 100 yds. I put three rounds into a water bottle so as I said in the beginning of this thread it left a lasting impression with me.

The cost ranges from $489.99 to $899.99. With all the high end features and starting with a low end price and you are looking for a rifle it would be worth your while to check this one out.

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone knows of any good moose hunting camps available in the Martin River, North Bay area. I am just getting back into moose hunting and I have never hunted in that area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There will be 3 people so I would need at least a two bedroom camp.

I have the same gun in 270. God it shoots so well!

Best gun I've owned thus far, for caliber choice and make. Shooting like a dream too. Sights are zero'd at 300m, at 200m I'm 2" high and 100m I'm 4" high. 400m I'm low 10". Pretty happy with this setup. I can aim on at anything to 300m. At 100m I'm pretty accurate, so being 4" high is just fine. Same with 200m. Anything past 300 I can range and take my time on. Get a good rest ect. Should be going out on monday to fire her. It's been a while.
