    Anybody ever refinish their rifle?

    Anybody ever refinish their rifle?

I have a 22 year old Marlin 30-30 336cs. Love the gun, but it was time to clean it up. So I stripped the stock and hand sanded it to a smooth surface. The gun was not bad but it was in need of refreshing the old finish. Once I got it all stripped and sanded I found a matching stain (that took some time) Once I stained it and polished the stain after it was dry. I searched for a urethane that was semi gloss not gloss (that took some time). Once I got that I got it in a can as well as a spray. I laid the urethane down. Then sanded the the urethane down lightly and sprayed it. Then I reassembled it and here it is.

The one thing I liked about the turn out is that it looks like it did when I got it new 22 years ago! It too some time to do but it will last longer then the original finish.
