    TRAA 25th Anniversary Fishing party

You can feel the Fall is coming when you step outside at 6am and realize you need your jacket. Weaved my way through the outskirts of town and stopped by the bait shop; no small talk today - minnows, trout worms and back in the car. Reached the Thames which was blanketed in fog so thick it hid the sun. A couple of fly flingers were getting their waders on and I expected the rest of the gang would be there soon if they didn't miss the turnoff in the low visibility. Finished off my coffee and tightened up the boots... damn got to remember to replace that lace before steelheading time; it's getting pretty thin. The trail to the river was well worked in from months of frequent anglers and I managed to fill two shopping backs full of beer cans and water bottles before I even had my line wet. Rigged up the float rod as I'm getting whatever practice in I can with this new Rapala R-type Centerpin reel... deciding to go with a small minnow under a 9g slip float so I could vary the depth. Made my way carefully along a riffle set and found a nice run... first cast - garbage. Wet my fingers and sent the second one on target. Within 30 minutes the banks were scattered with 2 generations of TRAA members chucking spinners, tossing worms and drifting surface flies. The fishing was hit and miss... some got skunked; some cleaned house. It really depended who you chose to follow. I did alright hooked a few; lost a few... snapped one of those pictures that will stay imprinted in my mind for years to come:

Sounds like it was a great day no matter how the fishing was. What a fantastic picture Bobby!
